Ileal Transposition
What is Ileal Transposition?
Ileal Interposition surgery, like Bipartition surgery, is a metabolic surgery application. In simpler terms, it is another diabetes surgery. It is based on the same logic as bipartition. Gastric sleeve is made, Ghreline hormone is removed and the first and last parts of the small intestine are replaced, so that the food quickly reaches the last part of the small intestine. This effect activates the small intestine hormones just like in Bipartition surgery, and as a result, insulin resistance is broken and blood sugar control is achieved.
What is the Difference Between Interposition and Bipartition?
Both are diabetes surgery. However, the starting point of Interposition surgery is not weight loss. For this reason, it is also applied to Type 2 Diabetes patients who are not overweight. Patients who are suitable for surgery usually stop all diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol medications they use after surgery. It is determined according to the conditions of these diseases during the hospitalization period after the operation. Patients are usually discharged without using any of these drugs. In some of them, until the metabolic effect settles, the drugs are continued at gradually decreasing doses for periods ranging from a few weeks to a few months, in a small and controlled manner. All of these drugs are discontinued when the measurements return to normal.
In today's conditions, it has been understood that the long-term permanent treatment of diabetes can only be achieved with surgery. One of the treatment alternatives for diabetes is surgery, the most important role in the success of the surgery is that the insulin reserves in the pancreas should not be depleted and serious irreversible organ damage should not have started.
